Trying to Get into Residency? Did you know that publishing an article in Contact, the official journal of the Society of U.S. Naval Flight Surgeons, counts as one point toward publication for your application for a military medical residency? Publish twice in Contact, and you've got the maximum two points for publication! Additionally, even though Contact is not technically a peer-reviewed journal, the Contact Editorial Board, composed of wing-wearing medical specialists, will review your submission and make suggestions for corrections and clarifications, ensuring that your submission represents the high standards of the aviation medicine professional community. Submissions can be made via e-mail in unformatted plain text, complete with your full name, rank, position and current assignment, and contact information, to the Contact Chief Editor, Capt. Nick Davenport, at nicholas.davenport@navy.mil. Submission of accompanying photos and figures are highly encouraged, and should be in jpeg or pdf format. For more information on publication guidance, see the latest issue of Contact. |

Don't Forget our Primary Job is
Flight Safety! As a Naval Flight Surgeon, our first job is to keep our aviators safe! Certainly, clinical medicine plays a very important role, but our mission is the safety in flight of those in our care. Do you have a safety program in your squadron that you developed or perfected, and would like to share? Or maybe some lessons learned from an incident or mishap? Or perhaps a close call from which others can learn? The SUSNFS official journal Contact is always in need of publications in aviation safety, and the section Zero to Mach Two is dedicated to this type of article. You can make an impact on the entire Navy, or even the military! |
